Lars Petre, Chairman

Lars has 35 years of experience in the tourism and travel industry. His current business investments include Kuredu and Komandoo resorts in the Maldives, and Huil Illes, Northolme, Allamanda and Hamilton resorts in the Seychelles. He is also a shareholder and board member of Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA).

Adam Saleem, Director

Adam is a Chartered Accountant with the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. He has extensive work experience in accounting and project management in the Maldives and Internationally. Adam was the project manager when Hilton/ Conrad was refurbished in 2004 and 2005. Prior to rejoining Crown Company in 2013, Adam worked for a charter aviation business based in Kenya.

Ibrahim Vishan, Director

Vishan has an academic background in tourism and business economics, and studied for and completed his doctorate in the UK in 2013. Vishan has also worked as manager of research and development within the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), which represents over 70 resort businesses and tourism operators regarding policy, where he interacted extensively with the IMF, World Bank, Government Ministries, private sector businesses, NGOs and local communities, giving him an insight into stakeholder issues in the Maldives at various levels. Currently, Vishan is Managing Director of Champa Brothers.

Sunil Balakrishnan, Director

Sunil is a Chartered Accountant by profession. He was the Accountant in Reethi Rah Resort before he joined KASA Holdings Pvt Ltd in 2000. Currently, Sunil is the Chief Accountant of KASA Holdings.

C M Abeysekera, CEO and MD

Abeysekera was a banker and has over 40 years of commercial banking experience under his belt. Prior to his appointment as the CEO and MD of MFLC, Abeysekera was the Assistant General Manager-Corporate Banking and International Banking of Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc (CBC), Sri Lanka.  During his tenure with CBC, Abeysekera was responsible to the Corporate Management in respect of portfolio management of large local corporate borrowers. He was also assigned to supervise 18 branches of CBC in Bangladesh. Abeysekera was also in charge of CBC’s loan portfolio in the Maldives since 1999. Abeysekera holds a Diploma in Bank Management from Bankers Institute of Sri Lanka and is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.

Mohamed Giyas, Deputy CEO and Director

Giyas has been in the financial services sector of the Maldives for the last 26 years. He was with the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) for 14 years before he joined the Maldives Finance Leasing Company (MFLC) in 2002. When he left MMA, he was the Manager of the Credit and Bank Supervision Department. During his tenure with the MMA, he was involved in the financial sector reform and restructuring program initiated by the MMA in the mid 90s. Giyas has a Bachelor of Business degree from Australia, with a double major in Economics and Finance.
